MBA Servicing Solutions Conference 2020 - what to watch out for.

If you are working in the mortgage industry, then I am sure you would be following the MBA's Servicing Solutions Conference & Expo 2020 happening this week in Orlando, FL. It is a great opportunity to network with industry executives and to learn the latest in the industry. There are a lot of interesting sessions. But here are a few that we would highly recommend.

24 Feb. ’20, Monday. The day will kick start at 7:30am with the registration desk opening up till 5:30pm.

1. General session - Inspiration of Reinventing: At 8:30am, the general discussion will take place at the Windermere Ballroom on the topic of ‘Inspiration of Reinventing’ between the speakers Mr. John Ondrasik, Singer & Songwriter (Five for Fighting) and Mr. Robert D. Broeksmit, CMB, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mortgage Bankers Association. We think it would be a very interesting discussion as the profiles of the people involved are very different and unique

2. General session - Changes in the Horizon for Government Loan Servicing: Soon after this general session ends, after a breather of 30 mins, at 10:30 am another general discussion starts. Themed as ‘Changes in the Horizon for Government Loan Servicing’, we advise you to keep an eye for this discussion for the theme set is very relevant and important for everyone involved in the industry to understand. The session will include Mr. Dror Oppenheimer, Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Housing – Federal Housing Commissioner, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; Mr. Michael Drayne, Acting Executive Vice President Ginnie Mae; Mr. Pete Mills, SVP, Residential Policy and Member Engagement, Mortgage Bankers Association; Mr. Andrew Trevayne, Assistant Director for Loan and Property Management, Loan Guaranty Service, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Mr. Richard Kane, Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program, USDA Rural Housing as the speakers.

3. Immediately following this, a session on ‘Ransomware and Cybersecurity- Understanding the Threats’ will start which again, is extremely relevant and is a topic everyone in the industry should have adequate knowledge about. This session will feature Mr. Rick Hill, Vice President, Industry Technology, Mortgage Bankers Association; Mr. Thomas Clerici, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Security Officer, Freedom Mortgage Corporation; Mr. Evan Bredahl, Cybersecurity Engineer, Richey May & Co., LLP and Ms. Gretchan Francis, Vice President of Specialty Lines Sales, Proctor Financial as the speakers. 

4. At 12:30 pm, head to the Regency Ballroom to attend THE HUB for 30 minute Spotlight Sessions on industry hot topics and TechLive product demos from top service providers. This event will start at 12:30 pm and will continue till 5pm but, if you don’t want to miss the simultaneously happening events, you can simply attend the specific portions which interest you as THE HUB is divided into several time slots. From 1pm to 1:40pm, there will be demonstrations of the new techs introduced into the market, this will be followed by a Spotlight Session at 3pm on ‘Servicing Transfers: Collaborating to Solve Industry Pain Points’ where the representatives from the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and MISMO will discuss about the topic in detail. Then finally, at 4:40pm, there’s another Spotlight Session on the theme ‘Jumpstart your Servicing Career with Industry Certification’ where the representatives from MBA will explain about the Residential Certified Mortgage Servicer (CMS) Specialist Certificate and Designation program and how it’s right for you. 

5. If THE HUB doesn’t suit your interest, then you can attend the session on ‘mPower Lunch: Own Your Own Story - Speak Up and Stand Out!’ with speakers Ms. Valerie Gordon, Founder, Commander-in-She, LLC and Ms. Marcia M. Davies, mPower Founder, Chief Operating Officer, MBA at 12:30pm.

3. 4. Innovation & Tech Track: Transforming Servicing through Artificial Intelligence (AI) with speakers Mr. George FitzGerald, Executive Vice President of Solutions Management, Black Knight; Ms. Nicole Beattie (Scully), Executive Vice President, Servicing, Quicken Loans and Mr. Varma Penmatsa, Vice President of Digital Products for Servicing, Fannie Mae. 

5. Policy & Compliance Track: FHA Servicing with speakers Ms. Krista Cooley, Partner, Mayer Brown LLP; Mr. Jarad Bernotavicz, Relationship Manager, EQUATOR, an Altisource Business Unit; Ms. Candace Russell, Vice President - Post Sale, Carrington Mortgage Services, LLC and Mr. Michael Greenbaum, Chief Operating Officer, Safeguard Properties. 

These breakout sessions have extremely valuable topics that will be discussed and talked about in-depth and therefore, accordingly should be attended.

All in all, the day is packed with various very informative and interesting discussions and events which should prove to be very useful for the attendees.
